There are limited feast spaces available. Please contact our reservationist to guarantee your seat. Please make checks payable to SCA Inc., Canton of Aire Faucon.

*As customary for this event, feasts spots may be sponsored for newcomers so they can fully enjoy the day. Sponsors are welcome to pay for one more feast spot than they need to contribute.

 

Cooks' Period Subtlety Competition

Our SCA cooks are artisans, too! Visit the main hall to see the subtelty displays. Entries must be logged by 11:30 a.m. Judging takes place at 12:30 p.m.

Understanding Subtleties--

For many years, cooks have been inspired by nature. Inasmuch, their inspirations have often made their way to the table. "Subtleties" are foods defined as examples of dishes that imitate or counterfeit another dish, foods which play on symbolism; foods that involve puns or wordplay; and foods that might have been served or given as presentation gifts to royalty. Typically, these would have been special one-of-kind or one-of-a-series of special dishes that might have a graced a Coronation or royal wedding.
